17 awards, including best of the best for Lighting Outdoor solution: SpeedStar

Dubai, U.A.E & Eindhoven, the Netherlands - After announcing the high number of iF product design awards the beginning of February, Philips is proud to announce new award success in its ongoing journey for bringing design excellence in product design to the market. A total of 17 Philips projects are awarded in the "red dot award: product design 2011"

'It is an honor that our people-focused design approach is reflected in our products and awarded by so many red dot design awards, including the best of the best award for our outdoor solution SpeedStar" says Stefano Marzano, Chief Design Officer of Royal Philips Electronics.

"The Philips SpeedStar LED road-lighting luminaires addresses our aim to help cities become more desirable and livable with the least impact to our environment", says Cees Bijl, Global Segment Leader Outdoor at Philips Lighting. "Municipalities are under pressure to meet energy conservation goals by reducing their energy consumption and carbon footprint while complying with lighting norms and standards.Our SpeedStar LED luminaire provides a solution to reduce the impact on our environment. SpeedStar is an energy-efficient luminaire requiring minimal maintenance and incorporating the easy-to-upgrade LEDGINE, which can be connected to lighting regulation systems for further energy savings."

The red dot can be seen as a prestigious recognition for Philips innovative design across all its sectors: Healthcare, Consumer Lifestyle and Lighting. Most of the awarded red dot design already won an iF award with the remark that StyliD won an iF gold award and SpeedStar is winner of the best of the best red dot product design award 2011.
